Mouseketeer Lynn Ready, a member of the Mickey Mouse Club during
 the 1956-1957 season, is born in Dallas, Texas. A third season replacement,
 he was the only Mouseketeer ever hired whose family wasn't already living in California.
Disney's Mickey Mouse cartoon Mickey and the Seal is released. Directed by Charles A. Nichols, it features the voices of James Macdonald (as Mickey) and Pinto Colvig (as Pluto). Mickey Mouse unwittingly brings home a baby seal from the zoo, but Pluto is the only one who knows it! The short will be nominated for an Academy Award.
Walt Disney writes his annual birthday letter to his sister Ruth (who will
 celebrate on December 6). His words include: "I am hoping you will use the enclosed check
 for yourself - something that you might particularly like to have and let it be my birthday gift to you."
 He goes on to apologize for not being home when Ruth and her son came to visit during the past
 summer. Walt writes of his recent trip to Mexico and his Disneyland project.

Actor Michael Angarano, who portrayed Will Stronghold in
 Disney's 2005 Sky High, is born in Brooklyn, New York.
Disney Legend Joe Fowler (a retired U.S. Navy Admiral) passes away at age 99 in Orlando, Florida. Retired from Disney since 1978, Fowler oversaw construction of both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. The dock for the two large ships in Disneyland's Rivers of America, located across from The Haunted Mansion is named Fowler's Harbor. In 1999, one of the ferries that crosses the Seven Seas Lagoon taking guests
from the Ticket and Transportation Center to the Magic Kingdom was renamed Admiral Joe Fowler in his honor
(it was originally known as the Magic Kingdom).
It is reported that the Walt Disney Internet Group will make popular Disney
 characters and songs available on AT&T Wireless phones or the first time in the
 United States. (Disney-branded ring tones and graphics were first offered in Japan back in August 2000.)
Disney releases Mickey Mouse in Black & White under 
its Walt Disney Treasures banner. The 2-disc DVD collection
contains 34 of the original black & white Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts starting with Steamboat Willie (1928) and ending with Mickey's Service Station (1935). Other Walt Disney Treasures released on this day include The Complete Goofy and Behind the Scenes at the Walt Disney Studio.

Writer, voice actor, director, and animator Andrew Stanton is born in Rockport, Massachusetts. Studying character animation at CalArts, he graduated from the school in 1987 and
joined Pixar in January 1990. Stanton was the second animator (John Lasseter being the first) and ninth overall employee hired at the studio. His credits include Toy StoryA Bug's LifeToy Story 2Monsters, Inc.Finding Nemo (which earned his first Academy Award), The IncrediblesCarsRatatouille, WALL-E (his second Oscar win), Toy Story 3, Cars 2, Brave, Monsters University, Inside OutToy Story 4Onward, and Soul. Actor Bruno Campos, the voice of Prince Naveen in Disney's 2009 The Princess

Take Two with Phineas and Ferb, a spin-off series from Phineas and Ferb, premieres on Disney Channel. The series revolves around Phineas and Ferb interviewing live action celebrities. This

A groundbreaking and site dedication takes place for Tokyo Disney Resort.
To formally initiate the project, Walt Disney Productions and the Oriental Land Company participate in a solemn
 Shinto purification ceremony (or Kiri-Nusa-San-Mai) on the site of the future theme park in Urayasu, just outside of
 Tokyo. (Tokyo Disney will open in April 1983.)
Actor Gary Sinise hosts Disneyland's Candleight Processional. The annual event started 53 years ago by Walt Disney
as a way of thanking organizations around the community. The ceremony
 features a reading of the Christmas story by a celebrity interspersed with
Christmas carols sung by the choir accompanied by a full orchestra, bell ringers,
and Disneyland’s Herald Trumpeters sitting atop the Main Street Railroad
Station. Sinise narrates two performances on this evening and two more 
performances the following day. (Sinise appears in the Epcot attraction
Mission: SPACE.)
ASIFA-Hollywood announces the nominations for the 40th annual Annie Awards. 
Nominees include Pixar's Brave and Disney's Frankenweenie and Wreck-It Ralph. To be held Saturday,
February 2, 2013 at UCLA'S Royce Hall, special laurels will be handed out to Disney's Mark Henn, who will
receive the Winsor McCay Award for lifetime achievement in animation, and Howard Green, Disney's VP of
studio communications, who will receive the June Foray Award for charitable contributions to the industry.

Actress Madeline Kahn passes away at age 57 in New York City. She was the voice of Gypsy in the 1998 A Bug's Life. She'll be best remembered for her roles in the films What's Up, Doc? (1972), Young Frankenstein (1974), High Anxiety (1977), History of the World, Part I (1981), and her Academy Award–nominated roles in Paper Moon (1973) and Blazing Saddles (1974).
One Day at Disney, a documentary film produced by Disney Publishing Worldwide and Endeavor Content, is exclusively streamed on Disney+. The feature length film will be followed by 52 additional short segments, released as a series of episodes weekly on Disney+. The documentary follows employees across the various divisions of The Walt Disney Company, taking a look at a day in the life of their jobs.

Disney announces it will be shutting down Radio Disney in early 2021. Since 1996, the network has been a go-to music destination for preteens and helped jump-start the careers of Disney Channel stars like Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers and Selena Gomez. The move is part of Disney’s increasing focus on its streaming platform, Disney+, and its television channels.
As of this day, December 3rd will now be known as 'Walt Disney World Day' in Orange County, Florida. Orange County and Orlando city leaders make the proclamation on this Friday at Second Harvest Food Bank in honor of the theme park giant's 50th anniversary. Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse also make a special appearance at the event. (Through Disney Harvest, Disney collects and distributes more than 823,000 pounds of prepared, unserved food annually and supports Second Harvest serving more than 40 area non-profits.)
Actress Daryl Hannah is born in Chicago, Illinois. She played the mermaid Madison in Ron Howard's fantasy-romantic comedy Splash (1984), Disney's Touchstone Pictures very first release. Hannah won a Saturn Award for Best Actress for the role of a mermaid who falls in love with a man who she saved from drowning 20 years earlier. She also played Lizzie, Tim's innocent, good-natured camera operator, in the science-fiction comedy My Favorite Martian.
